Meghann Bridgeman, originally from Huntsville, Alabama, joined the San Angelo Civic Ballet as director in the fall of 2005. Ms. Bridgeman debuted her first full-length ballet The Nutcracker in 2006, and has since choreographed new works such as Peter and the Wolf, Ballet Etudes, Pourqoui Pas, Mozart Sinfonia Concertante, Sweet Irene, Surfacing and most recently Maddie to Me, in the San Angelo Civic Ballet's The Jazz Affair. Ms. Bridgeman has enjoyed the opportunity to study at the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet teacher-training program for multiple years, as well as the National Ballet School of Canada's program in 2008 to further develop the San Angelo Civic Ballet curriculum. Ms. Bridgeman has also enjoyed joining the Ballet Austin summer time faculty as a guest instructor and choreographer. Before joining the San Angelo Civic Ballet, Ms. Bridgeman spent two years with Ballet Austin. While there, Ms. Bridgeman performed in numerous ballets including Swan Lake, Peter Pan, Cinderella and The Nutcracker as well as original choreography by Stephen Mills and Gina Patterson. Prior to Ballet Austin Ms. Bridgeman performed principal roles with the Alabama Ballet under the direction of Wes Chapman. Some noted roles include Dew Drop Fairy and Principal Spanish in Balanchine's The Nutcracker as well as soloist roles in Sleeping Beauty and various repertory performances. Her dance education and background includes early training with the Huntsville Ballet, Alabama School of Fine Arts and the Nashville Ballet, as well as the opportunity to study with the Joffrey Ballet and American Ballet Theatre Studio Company under the direction of John Meehan. Ms. Bridgeman has been studying, teaching and coaching alongside her performing career and is honored to serve as the Artistic Director of the San Angelo Civic Ballet.
